If it doesn't bite you.... it will try to eat you :-/

We are now in Jabiru in Kakadu National Park. Kakadu Lodge camp park is a very pleasant and almost empty park where we have put down roots for 3 nights. At this park we have run into another couple, Rob and Sue and their three children, that we have seen at three other parks, Broome, Fitzroy Crossing and Kununurra. It's funny when you think about the amount of parks and the kilometers travelled that you can see someone you recognize along the way.

We wanted to drive out to Cahills Crossing to try for a barramundi but Mother Nature had other ideas. We knew Cahills was closed but we were told that Magela creek was still open and passable....ummm I think not

These locals crossed but we were not going to risk it, too many crocs and submerged items in that creek and in the middle it was fairly fast flowing. A shame really because apparently there is some wonderful aboriginal art out that way.

Our second night here found me a little out of sorts. We have both been bitten by bloody midges from our toes to our noses and despite having every type of pest deterrent and after bite cream and spray, we are continually scratching and applying ..... and swearing. It seems that if it isn't biting you, it will try to eat you and that's the reason we have not put the tinny into these massive rivers filled with massive crocs! Not much sleep due to the itching and the humidity makes for a grumpy Sandra so I am looking forward to moving on down to Alice Springs.

But before that, today we treated ourselves to a 1 hour helicopter ride over Jim Jim and Twin falls. It was incredible and with the helicopter you can get so close....and with the doors off it was even better!

Loving the trip still....just not the critters :-)
